The museum opened in 1990. It exhibits works collected by DIC Corporation, a chemical company that, together with its subsidiaries, is the world's leading supplier of printing inks, organic pigments, and PPS compounds.
The museum's collection ranges from works by world-famous artists from the 17th century to the modern era, such as Rembrandt and Monet, to works by contemporary Japanese artists. The museum also has a permanent collection of works by Mark Rothko and Frank Stella which will appeal to those who appreciate abstract expression through the use of color and scale. The museum’s location is also a point of interest, surrounded by well-manicured and stunning nature in all seasons.
